Timber Square

Seedlinks, 2026
Clare Burnett

Seedlinks is a group of 3 sculptures, handmade by the the artist onsite. The 44,000 individually placed glass tiles link to a Roman mosaic recently discovered on Southwark Street. The forms of the sculptures are inspired by the seeds of the timbers once traded here - mahogany, oak and pine.

The vibrant colours, cyan, magenta and yellow, echo the inks used by IPC magazines historically to print their publications on-site. Southwark has long been associated with entertainment and performance; the sculptures are intended to create a theatrical setting within the square, allowing visitors to interact with the works and connect with the surroundings.

Commissioned by Hive Curates in partnership with Landsec. Comprised of 44,000 individually placed mosaic tiles.
