Timber Square CurationThe Unwilding, 2026

Timber is central to this artwork, reflecting its enduring presence in the site’s history — from its origins as an 18th Century timber yard to the contemporary use of cross-laminated timber (CLT) in the adjacent buildings. The artwork explores the reciprocal relationship between people and material, showing how, over generations, timber has shaped the identity and character of Timber Square.
Figurative shapes rooted in the landscape emerge, intertwined with natural forms featuring pine and mahogany-leaf motifs that reference the site’s historical connection to the timber yard. These natural forms suggest processes of regeneration and continuity, evoking a quiet exchange between human presence and the living environment. Together, they speak to cycles of making, growth, and transformation embedded within the site.
