FRIDAY ART CLUB: Painting with vegetables

  • Broadworks 57 Old Broad Street London, England, EC2M 1RX United Kingdom (map)

Our first Friday Art club session at Broadworks - join us for an hour or two of peaceful art making in our inspiring workshop space and explore sustainability focused projects in your lunch hour and beyond.

Commonly used in dyeing processes and pigments for centuries, vegetables and plants are a great sustainable source of colours, but did you know that you can create watercolours from cabbage or onion skins at home? A simple boiling process (and a little bit of chemistry magic) can get you a variety of colours to paint with, as well as keep your veggies edible for later - cutting two carrots with one knife!

Run by Vickie, an illustrator, photographer and maker, this workshop will show you how to use plant and vegetable pigments as watercolours to create landscapes and add colour to drawings or collages.

The pigments will be prepared ahead of time and we will go through the individual veggies and their capabilities; there will also be cabbage magic ✨

Drop-ins welcome, although spaces are limited!
